Workplace Mediation
Early dispute intervention, assisted by an independent mediator, may provide a safe, effective and confidential environment that will enable individuals to achieve a better understanding. This method of conflict resolution is completely voluntary and informal. We believe it permits people to remove the 'stuck ness' they feel, to re-build empathy and trust, and to move forward positively.

Mediation case study (identification has been withheld to protect individuals)

Two senior executives, (Mrs V and Mr L); one of whom line managed the other, agreed to engage in a facilitated mediation meeting after Mrs V raised a complaint against Mr L.

Suzanne met with each party individually where they were both asked to express their concerns. Following agreement, Suzanne then facilitated a joint meeting where both parties were given an equal amount of uninterrupted time to tell the other person about their issues.

Mrs V and Mr L went on to discuss their differences and to identify common ground. This was achieved by listening to each other and by talking in a non-threatening, impartial and neutral environment. Suzanne was able to help the parties draw up mutually beneficial agreements on how to move forward and to improve their working relationship. Both parties retained control of the process and felt positive about the outcome.
